Book Review of Retribution by Kenyon, Sherrilyn

Book Review of Retribution by Kenyon, Sherrilyn I would rate this new installment of the Dark Hunter number 20 series 4 stars out of 5 stars. New York bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon has made this thrilling adventure just as good as her previous works.

We are reacquainted with Jess Brady, a Dark Hunter who is sworn to protect the humans from the evil Daemons. And a new character is introduced, Abigail Yager, who wants to kill dark hunters, especially our hero. We can't blame her though, as she was adopted by the Daemons and led to believe that Jess Brady murdered her parents.

The story offers non-stop action from start to finish. The plot is very fast moving that one may even feel out of breath chasing after the scenes. However, aside from the running, chasing and fighting scenes, there are also twists in the story as you try to find out the underlying story for Abigail's hatred towards Jess.

Perhaps, one downside to reading this book is the fast-paced action that makes you lose connection with the characters. You will notice that Jess and Abigail never really had the time to get to know each other. There are just too many things going on all at once that these 2 main characters in this story didn't have the time to take a breather. And for us readers, this is important as we can connect with the characters in a story through the quiet and off-the-scene moments.

In the entirety of the book, you will find other interesting sub-plots as well. As Abigail killed a guardian of the evil plagues, this caused an imbalance on the earth's system and all of humanity is placed in danger. The only solution to this dilemma is to offer the blood of the offender, who happens to be Abigail. But Jess Brady won't allow this to happen as he has already fallen in love with her.

The book is really an interesting read and fans of the Dark Hunter series will surely find this installment thrilling and fascinating. And even if this is not a stand-alone book, first time readers will be able to relate to the concept and inspiration behind the book. One might even find himself or herself going back to the other series so as to discover more about the history of the Dark Hunters.

Sherrilyn Kenyon made us another great novel and this is an unforgettable piece. In spite of the seriousness and action-packed adventures that are embodied in this book, you will also find the type of humor that the author is known for. It's really a great book.
