What's More Important: World Peace or Fashion Sense?

Peace to all!
Peace to all!

Do you ever wonder what people would actually vote if given this choice?  Which one would win?  Would it be world peace?  Would it be fashion sense?  What IS more important?

This might seem like a rediculous question, but consider how much media attention the particular dresses worn by people who are paid to spend their time pretending to be other people (actors and actresses) receive.  Consider how much thought in each particular day goes into what is worn by oneself and others in our personal lives as well as in the media.  Consider how many fashion magazines are making rediculous sums of money by simply putting fashion sense articles on paper with ink and selling these at drug stores and candy shops in airports all over the world.

Now compare that to how much time you think is spent each day thinking about what needs to happen to end war and increase happiness in the lives of people in the world.  Consider how much time have you spent just today, or within the last hour, thinking about how to help children or families in need.

I wonder how much time those who actually have billions of dollars sitting around in their bank accounts that will never even be able to scratch the surface of their mountain of dollars, think about ways to make the world a better place each day.

What about the famous singer or actress who holds a benefit that raises $100,000, has a fashion article cover what she is wearing for this benefit, then when it is over, gets in her limousine and heads back to her home that is worth millions of dollars, and maybe even stops off on the way home for one of those trendy thousand dollar pieces of sushi.

She just spent the day raising the amount of money to help her favorite charity, that is actually nothing more than pocket change to her, rather than pulling a dime out of her own pocket to help.  But she gets all kinds of accalades for it.  She's a wonderful giver!  It's good to give!  Wow, what a great gal!

The woman in poverty with two or three jobs is watching a news piece about that very spoiled actress while she is scrubbing toilets in a fast food restaurant bathroom and even she, is probably thinking about the damned outfit that the pathetic person who earns her living by being fake and wearing lots of make-up and starving herself to be as thin as her bones will allow, is wearing.

Not always, but it is extremely interesting how much time is spent...no wait....I should back up here....It is interesting that any time at all is spent paying attention to fashion sense by anyone on the planet, while there are children and families suffering all sorts of atrocities all over the globe and while suicide rates are climbing as people struggle with the realizations that they may not currently and perhaps never in the forseeable future, even be able to work their fingers to the bone to come up with the number of dollar bills it would take to pay for a cheap roof to live under.

We are, as a human species, amazing in our ability to compartmentalize our thoughts and feelings and attentions.  Who has not been guilty at one point in time or another of having a focus on entirely frivolous matters, while there is a great deal of suffering going on in the world?

What can we do, but attempt to do our best to be good people?  Don't we each and every one of us, deserve to relax a bit?  Is it not necessary for stress reduction in our lives, which lends itself to better health?

We know that we cannot do anything for others until we do for ourselves.  We know that we do have to relax sometimes and we cannot live in morbidity in order to prove our empathy toward others.  That would do no good for anyone.

However, shouldn't there be a bit of a balance involved?  Shouldn't there be more of a focus directed toward things that actually make a difference in life and can help the world to be a better place?

What is more important:  World peace or Fashion sense?

Of the two, there are a lot more supporters with an interest in fashion, than any kind of peace or harmony seekers, if you consider the amount of time and attention and daily thought each of the two receive.  The fashion industry certain brings in a heck of a lot more money than any industries or organizations who have any kind of interest in bettering the condition of the globe.

Therefore, based upon public opinion gaged by public support fashion sense is definitely the winner.  It must be more important than world peace.  Hands down.  No doubt.
